Underworld: Awakening (also referred to as Underworld 4) could be a 2012 yankee 3D action horror film directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein. it's the fourth installment within the Underworld film series, with Kate Beckinsale reprising her role as Selene. Sandrine Holt, Michael Ealy, and India Eisley appeared, in new roles to the series. Filming began in March 2011 in Vancouver, British Columbia. it had been released in Digital 3D, IMAX 3D and second theatres on January twenty, 2012.

Six months once the events of Underworld: Evolution, vampire Selene is captured by humans throughout "The Purge", a mass crusade of extermination of vampires and lycans once mankind learned of their existence. Twelve years later, Selene is free of cryogenic suspension and escapes the medical corporation Antigen. The corporation is making an attempt to form an antidote for the virus that makes vampires and lycans.
Selene starts to own strange visions once her escape that she follows. She believes the visions are linked to her lover, the vampire-lycan hybrid Michael Corvin. The visions lead her into a building where she meets David, a fellow vampire. whereas talking to David, Selene has another vision, this point the person is cornered by lycans.
Following the vision she discovers a young lady named Eve, later revealed to be a hybrid and Selene's daughter. David, takes them to his coven. David's father Thomas doesn't welcome Selene and Eve, claiming Michael died twelve years ago and Selene is that the cause for the destruction of the vampire clan.
Dr. Jacob Lane, director of Antigen, is revealed to be a lycan alongside his son Quint, the antidote is really to form lycans proof against the deadly effects of silver and enhance their physical talents. However, Eve's hybrid genetic code is needed to realize this, therefore Lane sends Quint with different lycans to the vampire coven. various vampires are slaughtered, Selene meets Quint who transforms into a big "super lycan", his body modified by injections using Eve's blood. Selene is defeated, Eve is captured by the lycans, and David is mortally wounded throughout the battle.
Selene decides to avoid wasting Eve, however revives David using her immortal blood, given to her by Alexander Corvinus in Evolution. able to survive in daylight, Selene enlists the assistance of Detective Sebastian, a personality's who tried to research Antigen earlier within the film. Sebastian agrees to assist save Eve, admitting he was married to a vampire till she committed suicide throughout the Purge. Selene destroys a part of Antigen's headquarters using explosives, forcing Dr. Lane to maneuver Eve out of the building to perform an operation to make the antidote.
Selene escapes from the lycans within the building, finding Michael cryogenically frozen during a laboratory, and damages his cell to let him out. Escaping during a van, Dr. Lane is intercepted by Sebastian and then Selene who cause the van to crash. Quint arrives, remodeling into his super lycan kind and fights Selene. Eve frees herself from the van and engages Dr. Lane during a fight, who has injected himself with the super lycan formula used on Quint. Sebastian and also the revived David aid Eve in her fight till she kills Dr. Lane by ripping his throat out.
Meanwhile Quint corners Selene however is forced to revert to his human kind, just for Selene to shove an activated silver-based grenade into Quint's body, inflicting him to explode. Selene goes to seek out Michael however learns he has already escaped, Eve sharing his vision and learns he's on the roof. Selene, Eve and David run to the roof solely to seek out Michael has gone. Selene concludes she is going to realize Michael, and take back the globe from the humans and lycans therefore the vampires will rebuild themselves.
