- CLICK TO ENLARGE -It was a big night in Tinseltown at the People's Choice Awards, and it was Katy Perry who dominated the event, picking up the most awards during the evening.
Sadly, the songstress wasn't there to collect her awards. Katy, who cancelled her appearance at the awards show only a few days ago, after splitting from husband Russell Brand, won five out of her seven nominations, including the prizes for Favourite Female Artist, Favourite Song of the Year and Favourite Music Video.
Despite her no-show, Perry took to Twitter to celebrate with fans: 'THANK U to every1 who voted for me for the @peopleschoice tonight! We won so many! Now I need to get more book[shelves] 2 successfully display them!' (sic) Meanwhile, Perry's female solo rival nominees, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, only managed to pick up one award each.
In the movies category Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 picked up four awards, including Favourite Movie and Favourite Action Movie.
Although the Twilight Saga missed out, as it was a 'non- eligible year' for the vampire films, teen heartthrob Robert Pattinson was still on hand, with a new shaven hair 'do, to accept an award for his other movie, Water for Elephants, which earned the prize for Favourite Drama Movie.
Emma Stone took home the night's first two awards for Favourite Movie Actress and Favourite Comedic Movie Actress. Meanwhile, it was Bridesmaids which triumphed in the Favourite Comedy Movie category and saw producer Judd Apatow and the cast launch into an impromptu rendition of the film's soundtrack Wilson Phillips' Hold On.
Morgan Freeman was on hand to take home the first ever Favourite Movie Icon award, beating out George Clooney, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford and Tom Hanks. The People's Choice Awards is the first of the Hollywood award season, but unlike the Grammys or the Oscars, it is purely voted for by fans.
